A Spiritual Journey
Dear Spry Church,
Below I'm including several updates about ministry expansion, so please scroll down for that information -- and continue to pray for the Holy Spirit to guide us each step of the way!
This Sunday in worship we continue our series about 5 core principles of following Jesus. Since following Jesus is our primary purpose, this series gets at the heart of who we are and who we are called to be as the people of God. On Sunday we focus on Jesus' passion for service and what that means for us today! Who can you invite to worship?
Saturday morning, join us for an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 7-11am. Did I mention it's all you can eat? :) There is a suggested donation of $5 per person, and all proceeds benefit our Summer 2020 Guatemala Mission Trip. Good food, great cause!
Since both our church and Pine Grove UMC voted last December for Pine Grove to become a second campus of Spry Church effective July 1, 2020 with a public launch this fall, our leaders and staff have been busy preparing for next steps. I'm pleased to announce that these are the members of our Strategy Team, tasked with continuing to define and refine all the steps necessary for the start of this multisite ministry, and our Capital Campaign Team, which is providing leadership for a spiritual journey of gratitude, prayer, and faith as we prepare for all that God wants to do through us:
Capital Campaign Team
Bob Becker and Nadine Goodwin, Co-Chairs
Tim Klein, Pine Grove Pastor
Dean Wise, Pine Grove Representative
Troy Fisher, Pine Grove
Sue Shoff, Pine Grove
Dean Wise, Pine Grove
We'll introduce and pray for the team members from our campus during worship over the next several weeks. There will be other teams forming in the coming months, and every one of us has a part to play as God works through us to expand our ministry for the sake of Jesus in our community and beyond -- for some, that will be by serving on a team like one of these teams, for others it will be in other ways like through prayer, reaching out to friends and neighbors, or serving in ministry based on your gifts and passions in ways that help us reach more people for Jesus. The church is the body of Christ, and just like every body part has an important role, every one of us has a part to play in ministry for Jesus and we are all in this together.
Now that these teams have officially formed and have begun their work, I wanted to give you an update so you know who will be representing our church in these ways and so you can join me in praying for them by name. These are exciting times for our church because of all that God is doing already, and all that is yet to come. "Today, Lord!" is more than a capital campaign -- it's a prayer for God to continue to do great things in us and through us. These next few months will include some special times of worship, prayer, and other events and gatherings, all of which will propel us forward as we keep following Jesus together. I ask you to join me in this regular prayer, expressing your desire, and our desire together, to see our community become more like the kingdom of God and to play our part as we follow Jesus in faith: "Today, Lord!"
I hope you'll worship with us this Sunday as we look at the importance of service both for Jesus himself and for all who follow him. It will be a meaningful, enriching time of gathering together in the presence of God. See you then!
In Christ's love,
