Do Not Be Afraid
Dear Spry Church,
I hope you enjoyed (or at least were able to tolerate) the first snowfall of the year. Our kids were SO excited! We put on layers of clothes, grabbed our sleds, and walked to the nearest hill - a really great hill for sledding. Wow! I hadn't had that much fun in a long time. It made me feel like a kid again!
Our son Zeke has officially conquered his fear of sledding. He stayed out for hours, and kept saying he was competing for the world championship of sledding. I was a proud papa. :)
But seriously, no matter our age or stage of life, sometimes we encounter fears. How can we learn to work through them? That's what our current worship series is about. Join us this Sunday as our series continues; we'll look at one of the most common responses to our survey about fear and anxiety, and how you and I can learn to live with courage and hope.
Last week in worship, I briefly mentioned the situation regarding The United Methodist Church since the denomination made national news in a story released a week ago today (and unfortunately not all the reporting was accurate). Below is a 10-minute video in which I provide an explanation and discuss what it might mean for Spry. I'm also including links to pertinent information in case you'd like to learn more. The good news is this: we do not have to live in fear because Jesus, the Lord of all, goes with us and before us. Thanks be to God.
See you Sunday as we focus on God's faithfulness and are reminded that we are not alone!
