This is AMAZING!
In many ways, you regularly go above and beyond for the cause of Christ. That's one reason you are an exceptional church. Here's another example.
This year, our Vacation Bible School mission project supports Filter of Hope to share God's love and provide access to clean water for kids and families in other countries. This 2-minute video tells you more: Filter of Hope - Our Mission - YouTube. Each water filter costs $50 and lasts 10 years. A simple filter can change the lives of families and communities.
We set the goal of 20 filters ($1,000), and I'm thrilled to report that with one day of VBS still remaining, plus more giving to come from our July 18 offering, we've already exceeded that goal! This is AMAZING! Some of the kids have created videos online about why this project is so important, to help spread the word and increase support. We are so proud of our VBS kids!
We are having an awesome week at VBS 2021. About 100 kids are learning that the love and power of Jesus can help us face hard challenges in our lives. Thanks to everyone for your prayers and support, especially to all our volunteers--without such committed servant leaders, we wouldn't be able to offer this ministry to kids and families from our church and community. Thank you all!
We'll hear an update about VBS in each of our worship services this weekend. And, we'll have kids lead us in singing several of the VBS songs (with motions, if you really want to get into it☺) during 11am worship at our School St. Campus.
Celebration Sunday - July 18
We’re excited to celebrate with a picnic on July 18 starting at 11:45 at our School St. Campus. People from our School St. Campus and our Pine Grove Campus, along with those who worship with us online, are invited to come. The church will provide paper products, cups, and drinks; please bring a dish to share for the potluck, as well as a lawn chair. It’s a great opportunity for us to enjoy some food and a fun and relaxing time together. We’ll be outdoors weather permitting, and if we need to we’ll move it inside. There will be games and activities for kids, including a catapult and "horse" races. We’ll also have our annual VBS challenge for our pastors—this year, in keeping with the castle theme for VBS, Pastor Luke and I will square off in a jousting challenge that you won’t want to miss. All are welcome and we hope you join us.
Student Ministries Consultation Report
Our Church Council is working with a youth ministry consultant to help our church continue to build a vibrant ministry to, with, and through students and their families. Based on extensive reflection, including a number of conversations with youth, student ministry volunteers, and parents of youth, our consultant has produced a report that includes recommendations for moving forward. The report is available in both the School St. and Pine Grove offices. If you’re interested, pick up a copy. We’re excited about what God has in store for our student ministries as we pursue Jesus together!
Tonight is the last night of VBS and there might be another sighting of someone dressed up in a dragon costume. I won't say who our "dragon" is (keep it a secret if you know), but I will say that the costume gets really hot. See you in worship this weekend as we celebrate God's great love--and I hope you'll join us for our picnic at 11:45 as we enjoy some food and fun together!
