Rachel Kling: Treasurer
Rachel has lived in York her whole life. For most of her childhood she grew up at Bethlehem Farms, a retired camp through the Susquehanna Camping Conference. This “farm” was not one with cows and chickens but rather a camp site that fostered Sidewalk Ministries, a summer camp for York’s inner-city children. Almost every single summer day of her childhood, she would walk up to camp and participate in the day long fun! As she became older, she learned many skills and responsibilities of maintaining the camp, it is a family joke that Rachel is the son her father never had as she was always his helper when it came to yard work, facility maintenance, etc. The summer of 2008, she was hired by SCC to work at Camp Penn in Waynesboro PA – a summer she will never forget. That summer she met her now husband, Cory. She and Cory married May of 2015 at Camp Penn’s chapel, a truly beautiful day. In 2017 they were blessed with their first born, a son, Silas, followed by two daughters, Leanna (2020) and Ruth (2022).
Rachel testifies that this job with Spry Church is what can and will happen when we wait upon the Lord. After six months of searching for a new job that would allow for her to continue to be a stay-at-home Mom, God answered her prayers. While volunteering in the nursery at Pine Grove her husband, Cory, sent Rachel a picture of the bulletin announcement along with a text message saying, “This is it, you need to apply for this job.” Rachel heard the voice of Jesus in that moment say, “thank you for waiting.” Since becoming part of the staff in October of 2023, Rachel has been blessed with much more than just a job – the staff of Spry Church are a family.
When Rachel is not working, she is a stay-at-home Mom and enjoys the everyday joys and challenges of raising her three children. She is a dog lover, plays the piano and sings, and is always happy to go for a walk/hike!!!”
