The mission of illumiNations is to provide God's Word in every language for every people group in our lifetime. Their vision is to see all people gain access to Scripture in a language they can clearly understand by 2033.
Illuminations was founded in 2017 by a coalition of high-capacity Christian philanthropists with the goal of accelerating Bible translation efforts and eradicating Bible poverty by 2033 . These founders were motivated by a desire to address inefficiencies and lack of coordination within the Bible translation sector.
They established illumiNations as a donor-advised fund through the National Christian Foundation, enabling them to pool resources and direct grants to leading Bible translation organizations.
This collaborative approach was designed to streamline efforts and reduce duplication across various Bible translation organizations, ultimately increasing the speed and scale of Bible translation projects.
