Connections Pastor & Contemporary Worship Leader Job Objective
The Connections Pastor and Contemporary Worship Leader at Spry Church will help welcome, inspire, and assimilate people into the life of our church family to active Christian discipleship and full participation in the mission of God. This person will also provide vocal and musical leadership on Sunday morning to lead the Spry community in Christ-glorifying contemporary worship for our School Street Campus. The combination of the two roles will be a full-time, exempt position reporting to Spry Church Lead Pastor.
Connections Pastor Responsibilities
Advance the church’s ministry of making and forming disciples of Jesus through:
- Welcoming and assimilating people into the life of a local church.
- Create systems that will: monitor the health of Life Groups at Spry, identify and develop Life Group leaders, and make Life Group connections accessible to Spry Church attendees.
- An active member of regular preaching rotation.
- Could be between 4 - 8 times per year based on the needs of the congregation and Spry Church.
- Assist in worship planning and leadership, even on weeks that are not preaching week.
- Teaching opportunities, such as leading a weeknight Bible study or Alpha class, etc.
- Assisting with congregational care.
- Be an active participant in monthly Spry Church staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by the lead pastor.
Contemporary Worship Leader Responsibilities
- Deliver God-glorifying and community-engaging Sunday worship services under the direction of the School Street Lead Pastor.
- Develop and instill a vision for Worship to include voice, music, audio, video, lighting, and visual presentation.
- Collaborate with worship leaders and pastors to design weekly services.
- Direct the worship team, including leading the group through all songs during worship service, conducting rehearsals, and coordinating musicians and singers for each week.
- Recruit and develop worship talent to build worship teams that are prepared to lead the Spry community in Christ-glorifying worship.
- Oversee, teach, and develop volunteer tech teams (Audio, Video, and Lighting) at School Street Campus.
- Utilize Planning Center Online and ProPresenter as software tools to organize and lead worship ministry teams.
- Other duties as assigned by the lead pastor.
Connections Pastor & Contemporary Worship Leader Qualifications
- 2+ years of active involvement and leadership in the life of the Church (not necessarily this congregation), with an ongoing commitment to excellence in ministry; 3+ years’ experience in contemporary worship leading ministry preferred.
- Obtaining a Master of Divinity is preferred, and education equivalent to a local pastor’s licensing school is required.
- Strong lead singing voice, with a good understanding of and ability to lead contemporary Christian music.
- Ability to play keyboard, guitar, or percussion is preferred but not required.
- Skilled in organization, administration, and interpersonal relationships.
- Demonstrate a passion for Jesus and His kingdom through personal spiritual discipline and public ministry.
- Seek to grow in your relationship with Jesus through personal spiritual discipline, education, accountability, and service to His kingdom!
- Skilled in organization, administration, and interpersonal relationships.
- Committed to living a Christian lifestyle and to serving as a Christian role model.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
